LSU baseball star Jake Brown out indefinitely with broken bone in hand

BATON ROUGE – LSU baseball could be without one of its top bats in the lineup for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Junior right-fielder Jake Brown suffered a broken bone in his hand during Sunday’s game against Texas A&M.

It is unclear if the injury will sideline Brown for the rest of the 2026 season. If LSU (23-18) were to turn its misfortunates around and make it to the postseason, there is an off-chance that Brown could return if his recovery goes well. Brown has not missed a game this season for the Tigers.

According to reports, LSU coach Jay Johnson said Brown will likely have surgery as soon as he can and that he and the staff won’t rush Brown back and that his overall health is their top priority.

Another question is if Brown can’t come back at any point this season, has the star outfielder played his last game in an LSU uniform. Brown is an MLB Draft eligible junior and before the season, the belief was this would be Brown’s final collegiate season.

The lefty has hit a team-leading 16 home runs this season for the Tigers. He’s hitting .309 with a 1.064 on-base plus slugging percentage. Brown has scored 43 runs and has 49 RBIs.
