One of the scariest events in sports is seeing a player go down and need to be stretchered off the field. That happened over the weekend when American goalkeeper and son of former USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann, Jonathan Klinsmann, went down while playing for Cesena. The player was taken to the hospital on Saturday and it was revealed over the weekend that Klinsmann suffered a fracture in the first cervical vertebra.
Following the injury, Klinsmann will miss the remainder of the season as he recovers and is currently on loan from Chelsea to the Italian club. He has been a starter for Cesena since joining the team in February of 2024 and has 66 appearances to his name. The goalkeeper has not been in recent callups for the USMNT and was most recently in a selection in August of 2025. At 29 he is still looking for his first international senior team cap, he previously played in MLS for the LA Galaxy.
