Manchester United Are Locked In A Three-Way Battle For This Serie A Midfielder: Good Fit For Carrick?

In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb mentioned that Manchester United are locked in a three-way battle for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. It has been claimed that the Red Devils would have to rival Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan in the race to sign the Brazilian talent this off-season.

Ederson’s Impressive Form In Serie A

Ederson has enjoyed a good run of form at the Italian club as he has produced a string of solid performances for them in the middle of the park. The 26-year-old has registered two goals and grabbed one assist in 36 matches for Atalanta this season across all fronts.

The Brazilian sensation is currently among the best central midfielders in Serie A. Therefore, Man United would do well to lure him to Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer window.

His current contract at the Italian club will run out at the end of next season, which could open the door for the Red Devils to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Will Ederson Be A Good Fit For Manchester United?

Ederson is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer as well.

The Brazilian midfield ace can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team from midfield. Ederson is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if needed. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if Man United manage to snap him up later this year.

We can expect Ederson to bring more quality and depth to Michael Carrick’s midfield department. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford next season.

At 26, Ederson has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Man United‘s needs in the long run. All in all, Carrick should focus on stepping up his efforts to land him as long as he is available for a reasonable fee at the end of this campaign.
