The Avalanche won again, and the Los Angeles Kings are suddenly one loss away from being eliminated. The same goes for the Ottawa Senators, who also couldn’t win at home. The Sabres bounced back on the road to allow all three road teams to win on Thursday. Also, Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman spoke about the season that was.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — April 24.

Colorado Hockey Now

The Avalanche have the Los Angeles Kings on the brink of elimination, and they could end the series as early as this Sunday afternoon.

Through the first three games, Colorado hasn’t gotten a goal from Nathan MacKinnon or Martin Necas. You’d like to see those guys produce, but there’s something special about winning three games without their goal-scoring.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Recap

Game 3 Recap — Sabres 3 at Bruins 1— (BUF leads 2-1)

The Buffalo Sabres reclaimed home-ice advantage after recording an impressive 3-1 victory on the road in Boston. The Bruins scored first, but Bowen Byram tied it up, and Alex Tuch got the go-ahead goal in the third. They later added an empty netter.

Game 3 Recap — Hurricanes 2 at Senators 1 — (CAR leads 3-0)

Shifting the series to Ottawa didn’t help. Neither did Brady Tkachuk’s goofy sunglasses (what was up with that?). The Hurricanes kept the scoring low and won 2-1 on the road to be one of three teams to lead their first-round series 3-0 in these playoffs.
