Real Madrid have no more margin for error in La Liga’s title race.

Victories for both Clasico clubs in midweek maintained Barcelona‘s nine-point lead at the top of the table.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s men beat Alaves on Tuesday and this trip to take on Real Betis is the first of three consecutive away games, culminating in a huge showdown with Barca on May 10.

Nothing less than three points will do if their fading title bid is to remain on track for that match.

Real Betis are still in European contention but have suffered a dreadful slump in form over recent weeks. A 3-2 win at Girona on Tuesday ended a run of seven LaLiga matches without victory, while a shocking second leg collapse at home to Braga ended their hopes of Europa League glory.

Real Betis vs. Real Madrid key moments

45+1 mins: More work for Lunin as we tick into four minutes of stoppage time. Rudiger gets caught under a high ball and is bailed out as his goalkeeper thwarts Bakambu. Antony then tries his luck as Betis keep the attack alive and Lunin pushes over.

44 mins: Great save from Lunin! Betis have barely threatened at all, but Antony engineers some room outside the area and fires towards the bottom right corner. Lunin gets down at full stretch to tip around the post.

17 minsVINICIUS JR. GIVES MADRID THE LEAD!

That’s certainly been coming. Valverde lines a shot up from way downtown, catches it sweetly as he tends to. Valles can only parry and Vinicius reacts quickest to slot the rebound home.

13 mins: Another half-chance for Mbappe as Alexander-Arnold sends a raking ball forward and he thumps over.

8 mins: First chance for Madrid as Brahim curls a cross towards the back post from the left-hand corner of the box. Mbappe darts onto in but can’t get a side-footed volley on target.
