Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany says team won’t lose belief after PSG loss

PARIS, FRANCE – APRIL 28: Vincent Kompany, Head Coach of FC Bayern Munich, arrives at the post match press conference following the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Semi Final First Leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Bayern München at Parc des Princes on April 28, 2026 in Paris, France. Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has instilled an incredible mentality into his team that is based on being relentless and resilient, while also showing great amounts of heart and fight.

The Bavarians simply never feel like they are out of any game. After the squad’s rollercoaster ride of a 5-4 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Kompany said that he does not expect any of that to change.

“Normally when you concede five goals in a semifinal you’re out. But we scored 4 and could’ve added more. At 5-2 it would have been difficult, but now it’s basically 1-0,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “The atmosphere next week at Allianz Arena will be crazy. We know we have to win. We’ll give absolutely everything, really everything we have even if we have to die on the pitch. We believe.”

Bayern Munich will need that sense of belief. PSG can be a buzzsaw and it will take a mentally tough approach to ensure that the team has the best chance to succeed at home next week in the second leg.
