The Washington Commanders‘ receiver room prior to the NFL Draft wasn’t exactly in good shape, with no key weapon behind Terry McLaurin to scare a defense.
In the third round of the draft, Washington selected Clemson receiver Antonio Williams to be part of Jayden Daniels’ weaponry for 2026.
The big question is how he will fit into the Washington offense.
For CBS Sports’ Mike Renner, he’s named Williams as the best selection the Commanders made in the draft.
“Williams is an NFL-ready route-runner who’s reliability is his calling card,” Renner wrote. “While he was a slot only at Clemson, he showed the ability to be more versatile than that in the NFL.”

Where does Williams fit in Commanders’ offense?
With McLaurin, Treylon Burks, and Luke McCaffery, you could make the case that Williams might start off training camp as the fourth receiver, maybe fifth or sixth if you want to put Dyami Brown or Jaylin Lane ahead of him, too.
So, there won’t be an easy path towards getting snaps for Williams in 2026, but he has the talent to give it a genuine shot. We see all the time players hit the ground running in training camp and follow that through to the regular season.
As a third-round pick, expectations aren’t likely to be too high inside the building, at least initially, but Williams has the tools to be a nice addition to Daniels’ weaponry in 2026.
