Tyrese Maxey vows to bring fans a “deserved” win at home vs. Celtics

The Boston Celtics have been placed on notice by Philadelphia 76ers superstar Tyrese Maxey, who is looking to get his team a win at home for the first time in this series. Through the first five games between the two, Boston has a 3-2 series lead, but have dropped the two losses at TD Garden on their home court, while also taking each game on the road.

After the Sixers staved off elimination on Tuesday night, the series is headed back to Philadelphia on Thursday night, where they can force a Game 7 with a victory, showing the ultimate resolve after struggling early on. Following Tuesday’s win, Maxey spoke with reporters in Boston and was emphatic that the city of Philadelphia and the Sixers fans deserve to see a win at home.

“Our fans deserve a win at home,” Maxey said after the Game 5 victory. “We lost a tough one (Game 3), and then got blown out of the water (Game 4), so we deserve to go out there and fight. After that performance that we put on last time in front of our fans, that was a disgrace and it was unacceptable. I’m planning on making sure my teammates go out there and fight, we scratch and we claw, and we try to get that W.”

The Celtics pulled off a 32-point victory in last Sunday’s Game 4 victory, paced by Payton Pritchard’s 32-point outing. Boston struggled in the final 7 minutes of game action during the fourth quarter in Tuesday’s loss, missing their final 14 shots during that stretch. With an opportunity to close out the series on the road, they’ll have to avoid any sort of stretch of that nature, and fight off what appears to be a concerted effort by Maxey and the rest of the Sixers.
