GM Dan Morgan is asked if Panthers still believe in WR Xavier Legette

The Carolina Panthers haven’t given up on wideout Xavier Legette, at least according to the man who calls the shots.

President of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan joined WFNZ’s The Kyle Bailey Show yesterday afternoon to discuss the 2026 NFL Draft. Part of the team’s class from this past weekend included Tennessee receiver and third-round pick Chris Brazzell II, who may challenge Legette for some time beside projected starters Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker.

But Morgan, when asked if the organization still believes in their 2024 first-rounder, says there’s still hope.

“Xavier’s putting the work in, his body looks great, he’s in great shape right now, and we’re excited about him,” Morgan told host Kyle Bailey. “Sometimes, it takes guys a little time to develop and get an understanding of what it takes to play at a high level in the NFL, and I think Xavier will figure that out. So we definitely still have a lot of belief in him.”

There wasn’t much belief in Legette towards the end of 2025, where he saw his snap share dip over each of the Panthers’ final four regular-season games. Legette, who had trouble in his first two campaigns with drops and spacial awareness, would finish above 39 receiving yards in just two of his 16 outings.

Brazzell comes in as a second-team All-SEC selection from this past year. The speedy 6-foot-4, 198-pounder notched 62 catches for 1,017 yards and a conference-leading nine touchdowns for the Volunteers.
