Rob Gronkowski jokes he had to match Julian Edelman in Patriots HOF

It’s no secret that Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski come as a package deal, having created an unbreakable bond during their time on the New England Patriots.

So with that, it was fitting that the wide receiver was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame last year, and now, it’ll be Gronkowski’s turn.

“Jules just gave me a little voicemail, text message thing. He loves those. He lives and dies for them. And I usually read them, but I listened to this one,” the tight end told reporters when asked about Edelman’s reaction by Patriots Wire on Wednesday. “He congratulated me, big time. And it was just really cool.”

In his response to Edelman, Gronkowski took a walk down memory lane, recalling a time in 2010 when the two were at a nightclub called “Splash” ahead of the tight end’s rookie year, where he was stealing shrimp off a tray when the waitress wasn’t looking.

“Two idiots back in 2010, now going back-to-back into the Patriots Hall of Fame—both of us, first-round inductees,” he added. “It was just cool to hear from Julian, and he also just gave me props for just being the player that I was, and he just said, ‘Hey it was a complete honor to play with a complete football player, a guy that brought it every single day.’

“So, Julian got in last year, and I wanted to copy him.”
