Denzel Boston bringing hard-nosed mentality to Cleveland Browns

Anybody who watched wide receiver Denzel Boston catch passes for the Washington Huskies over the last few years knows that the 6-foot-4 pass catcher doesn’t back down from any challenge.

Now, after he was selected with the No. 39 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns, he’s bringing an alpha dog mentality to an organization that is looking for a major spark.

“My whole goal when I go against a defender is I don’t want him to be able to go home and be happy to be around his family,” Boston said in an interview on 92.3 The Fan. “I want him to feel that from that game. That’s the mentality that I’m bringing to the Cleveland Browns.”

After he was considered a consensus first-round pick throughout the draft process, Boston’s fall out of the first round may add a chip on his shoulder as he looks to make his mark at the next level in what quickly became a promising group of skill players in Cleveland.

Combined with former Texas A&M standout KC Concepcion at wide receiver, whom the Browns selected with the No. 24 overall pick, the pair complements each other very well on the outside. No matter who is at quarterback, whether it be Shedeur Sanders or Deshaun Watson, they should have plenty of opportunities to connect with an open receiver, especially after tight end Harold Fannin Jr.’s breakout rookie season in 2025.

For Boston, who posted 132 catches for 1,781 yards and 20 touchdowns over his UW career, he could make an immediate impact in the red zone, where his size, reliable hands, and hard-nosed mentality could help the Browns take a long-awaited step forward in the AFC North.
