There were some corners of the college football world that thought Matt Campbell would have trouble recruiting at Penn State as recent as a couple months ago. The Nittany Lions’ new leader proved those people wrong by racking up 11 commitments over the span of a few weeks, and he has landed his newest prospect today.
The recruiting run started with a few smaller commitments from three-star athletes, but as the school’s momentum grew and more players began agreeing to join the program, Campbell quickly started adding more talent to his future classes.
Thursday’s commitment followed that trend, coming from four-star Class of 2027 defensive lineman Stanley Montgomery. The Philadelphia native was first offered back in January and clearly it didn’t take much time at all for him to come to a decision. Montgomery, the No. 6 ranked defensive lineman in the 2027 class and a top-100 prospect in the nation, now becomes the 12th Penn State commit under Campbell.

The school was already projected to have one of the top recruiting cycles in the nation, and this newest addition will surely bolster it. With the Nittany Lions awaiting decisions from a handful of other four- and five-star recruits, it’s safe to say Campbell isn’t going to have any trouble convincing kids to come play in State College.
