Runners cross the finish line of the 47th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run

The winners have crossed the finish line of the 47th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run.

The first runner to cross the finish line was Joshua Izewski with a time of 45:09, giving him a back-to-back victory.

Izewski set a course record with that time, with the previous record being 45:14.

He also set a personal record with that time, beating his previous time of 46:13.

The first female runner to cross the finish line was Tessa Barrett.

Barrett crossed the finish line at 52:27.

This was Barrett’s first time running the race.

Around 40,000 runners hit the pavement Sunday morning to take part in the 10-mile race throughout the city.

The course ran from the Central High School Athletic Field in Philadelphia’s Logan section to the Navy Yard.
