IPL 2026: Ramakrishna Ghosh ruled out of season after injury on CSK debut

NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings have suffered another setback in IPL 2026, as all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has been ruled out of the rest of the season with a fractured right foot.

The franchise confirmed that the 28-year-old got injured during the match against Mumbai Indians on May 2, which also happened to be his IPL debut. Despite the injury, Ghosh managed to make an impact by taking a catch to dismiss Will Jacks and later picking up the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.

The exact moment of the injury is still uncertain. Ghosh had taken a diving catch early in the game and also slipped during his bowling follow-through while delivering to Naman Dhir. After the match, CSK coach Stephen Fleming praised the youngster’s progress and versatility.

“His improvement in recent weeks has been noticeable. He has been training really well at our academy sessions. We use two grounds, and he’s been very impressive. It’s disappointing that he got injured towards the end. The other point is that he can bat, and bat well, which is an area of big improvement. So he can genuinely be called an all-rounder,” Fleming said.

Ghosh’s absence adds to CSK’s growing injury list this season. The team has already lost pacer Khaleel Ahmed and batter Ayush Mhatre recently. Overseas bowlers Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson have also faced fitness issues, while MS Dhoni continues recovering from a calf strain.

CSK have already signed Akash Madhwal as Mhatre’s replacement, and Ghosh’s replacement is expected to be announced soon.
