HILL DICKINSON STADIUM, LIVERPOOL – Jeremy Doku pulled an astonishing 3-3 draw out of the fire for Manchester City at Everton, but it is now advantage Arsenal in a coruscating title race.
The Belgium winger fired home a stunning finish in the seventh minute of stoppage time, having scored in a similarly sublime fashion late in the first half.
Between both of Doku’s stunners, the roof fell in on City – potentially decisively, given the nature of the title race. Substitute Thierno Barry levelled after a howling error from Marc Guehi and, after Jake O’Brien converted James Garner’s 73rd-minute corner, Barry’s second appeared to have sealed the points.
But City showed a fighting spirit worthy of a gripping race for glory. Erling Haaland dispatched his 25th Premier League goal of the season with aplomb. Then, amid the frantic scenes of Gianluigi Donnarumma coming up for a second successive corner and the allocated six minutes of stoppage time having ellapsed, Doku sparked wild celebrations among the away suppoort.

Everton vs. Man City highlights, key incidents
90+7 mins: JEREMY DOKU! WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU MAD MAN?! IT’S 3-3
Donnarumma up for his second corner, allocated stoppage time having elapsed. City have one last chance and Doku curls home another absolute stunner. NURSE!
86 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!! Erling Haaland!!!!!
Hang on a minute…. Haaland gets pretty much his first sight of goal all night and lifts a shot beyond Pickford.
81 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!! Thierno Barry!!!!!!!
Everton ripping through City, who have fallen apart compeltely here. Kovacic makes a forlorn challenge on Rohl, with O’Reilly nowhere to be seen and Barry can apply the finish. Bedlam at Bramley Moore Dock!
73 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!! Jake O’Brien!!!!!!
Everton lead! Huge scenes here! Corner to the near post, Donnarumma doesn’t get there and O’Brien heads home.

69 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!! Thierno Barry!!!!!!!
An absolute howler from Marc Guehi and Everton are level! The offside went up initially because Barry was in an offside position when the ball was played forward. But Guehi then left a backpass to Donnarumma short and the Toffee’s substitute had a simple finish. Cheers here and roars in north London.
65 mins: Donnarumma stands up again! Ndiaye through on goal and the City goalkeeper not only saves, but manages to smother the rebound.
60 mins: It’s been a similar story of City domination since halftime, but Garner snaps into a fine challenge on Doku to get Everton away on the break, Ndiaye takes aim for the bottom left corner but Donnarumma is equal to it.
43 mins: GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Jeremy Doku!!!!!
That’s going to be a sapping one for Everton after all they’ve put into this half defensively. Cherki and Doku were both guilty of not getting shots off when they had the chance there. But City kept the attack going expertly once more and Cherki nudged the ball to Doku on the edge of the box for he Belgium winger to shift onto his left foot and cream one into the top corner.

32 mins: Brilliant from Donnarumma! Rohl burns away from Guehi down the City left. His low cross for Beto is a good one but the Italy goalkeeper gets a vital outstretched arm to it. Khusanov blocked the eventual shot behind.
25 mins: An Everton chance! Mistake from Nico Gonzalez and the ball is worked to Dewsbury-Hall. A sliding Khusanov charges his shot behind.
18 mins: Cherki clatters a shot too close to Pickford, City win back the second ball – as they have been doing relentlessly – and Semenyo fires wide on the angle. It’s been total domination from the visitors so far, with the possession stats reading 89% to 11% for Everton.

Everton team news
- Having discovered some form, Beto suffered a head injury against Liverpool a couple of weeks ago and missed out last week due to concussion protocols, but he should return.
- The Toffees are also without Jarrad Branthwaite, who was forced off through injury against the Reds and his season is over.
- Manchester City loanee attacking midfielder Jack Grealish is also unavailable for the rest of this season due to injury. He would have been ineligible tonight in any case.
Man City team news
- Man City rotated last weekend but they should return to more or less a full-strength side with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Abdukodir Khusanov, Marc Guehi, Nico O’Reilly, Jeremy Doku, Antoine Semenyo and Erling Haaland to come back in.
- 2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri remains sidelined with a groin injury, so Wembley hero Nico Gonzalez partners Bernardo Silva in the middle of the park.
- In defence, Josko Gvardiol remains sidelined for the hosts, with Ruben Dias also still a doubt as he works his way back to full fitness.
