Doku rescues point in thriller at Everton
Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the ball for the first 30 minutes without carving out a clear chance, whilst the hosts looked to break on the counter, coming close through striker Beto, who saw his strike blocked by Abdukodir Khusanov.
The electric Doku was menacing on the left flank, but he broke the Toffees’ resolve shortly before the interval with a curling effort from the opposite side of the box, cutting onto his left foot from Rayan Cherki’s pass to find the top left corner beyond the sprawling Jordan Pickford.
Thierno Barry capitalised on a defensive lapse to equalise after 68 minutes, before Jake O’Brien headed the hosts ahead shortly after.
Barry added his second of the evening with just under ten minutes to play, before Erling Haaland dinked us back into the game straight from the resulting restart.
With the clock in the 98th minute, Doku took matters into his own hands and curled in his second spectacular goal of the night to salvage a point, taking us five points behind league-leaders Arsenal, with a game in hand.
