The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken a 1-0 lead against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals. This is one of the most impressive results of the NBA Playoffs so far, and now the Timberwolves have stolen the home-court advantage.
This was a monumental victory for the Timberwolves because they got the win against a Victor Wembanyama defensive masterclass. The Frenchman set the single-game Playoff record with 12 blocks, but it was not enough.
Anthony Edwards celebrates his team’s resilience in Game 1 upset
The Timberwolves were heavy underdogs heading into this series. Despite the odds being against them, head coach Chris Finch and his Timberwolves continue to find ways to succeed in the Playoffs.
This Timberwolves team is coming off two consecutive runs into the Western Conference Finals. They want to make it three in a row by beating the Spurs, and with this Game 1 performance, they could do it once again.

Anthony Edwards has been dealing with an injury, so he had a slow start against San Antonio. However, it was his 11-point fourth quarter that propelled the Timberwolves to the Game 1 win.
Despite his contribution, Edwards made sure to credit the rest of the team. They were excellent, especially Julius Randle on offense and Rudy Gobert on defense. It was a resilient performance that did not go unnoticed.
“I made so many mistakes at the end of the game, I’m so disappointed in myself… We just want to win ball games, that’s all we want to do as a group, no matter whose night it is. Resilience, that’s what we got,” Edwards said after Game 1.
The Timberwolves will play against a motivated Spurs team in Game 2. It will be against another hostile crowd, but now, the Timberwolves have the momentum.
