The Atlanta Braves had the opportunity to win against the Seattle Mariners, but received a shaky outing from right-hander JR Ritchie. In the third outing of his career, Ritchie allowed three earned runs, six walks and struck out two in five innings.

Despite the Braves losing on Monday, first baseman Matt Olson hit a career milestone, as he hit his 300th home run in the top of the sixth inning.

Matt Olson found it bittersweet to hit his 300th home run in the Atlanta Braves’ loss

Speaking after the game, Olson expressed his excitement about hitting this career milestone, but wished the Braves had gotten the win on top of it.

“Yeah, obviously, a great milestone, able to get the ball back,” Olson said to Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. ” I wish we could have gotten the win on top of it, to make it a little sweeter. But you’re gonna remember that one.”

Olson went 1-for-3 in the 5-4 loss to the Mariners, with a walk, a strikeout and a run scored. Three of the Braves’ four runs scored came off solo home runs. Catcher Drake Baldwin hit one in the top of the first and Ozzie Albies hit one in the top of the sixth inning.

Olson’s home run is his 12th of the season and places him in the lead for the National League and tied for third in MLB. The three-time All-Star also leads MLB in RBI (32), tied with Baldwin for the lead in runs (33) and leads in doubles (15).

The three-time Gold Glove winner is doing all this while maintaining his consecutive games streak.
