Jaylen Brown fined $50,000 for comments after Boston Celtics Game 7 loss to Sixers

The great physicist Sir Isaac Newton once said “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.” And when it comes to star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown’s recent comments about the officiating in the Celtics’ recent 2026 NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs first round series loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, that reaction cited by Newton has arrived in the form of a hefty fine.

Per NBA Communications, the Georgia native has been dinged a cool $50,000 for his critiques of the refereeing in the series against the Sixers, with the league specifically pointing to “public criticism of the officiating.”

The fine, announced by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations, also referenced the Cal alum making his complaints which got him fined “on a livestream on May 3 following the Celtics’ 109-100 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7.”
