In a battle between two of the top Cape and Islands boys high school lacrosse teams, Falmouth emerged with a 9-7 victory over Nantucket on Wednesday.
Travis Smith won 16 faceoffs and add a goal and three assists, while Jackson Smith tallied three goals for the Clippers (12-2), who swept the season series with the Whalers (10-2) in the process.
Charlie Meserve and Finn Oberacker had two goals apiece and Will Hostetter had one goal.
Hostetter and John Luc Smith were both good on defense. Gavin Powderly made 11 saves in net.

Bourne 17, Seekonk 3: Charlie Seitz had three goals and five assists, while Jack Balfour had five goals and two assists for the undefeated Canlamen (11-0). Ty Hawkes had two goals and an assist. Mike Valois had two goals and two assists. Sean Kelly had a goal and an assist. Brody Haden had an assist. Nolan Scofield made five saves.
Girls Golf
Nauset 5, Scituate 1: Finley Williams defeated Maggie Poppish 4 and 3. Lilah Baer defeated Julet Finn 3 and 1. Emma Levya defeated Maeve Lynch 4 and 2. Tiffany Gomez defeated Regan Smith 5 and 4. Sophia Silvestri and Alyssa Paine halved their match. The Warriors (7-3) have won three in a row.
Boys Tennis
Martha’s Vineyard 5, Sandwich 0: The Vineyarders (7-2) won their third straight match via a sweep as they beat the Blue Knights (1-7).
Falmouth 4, Monomoy 1: Jacob Faidell defeated Ethan Seufert 6-0, 6-0 at second singles, while Quinton Hefferan defeated Ben Chao 6-0, 6-0 at third singles. Jack Beardsley and Fofi Verslycke defeated Patrick McMahon and John Sene 6-1, 6-3 at first doubles, and Miles Chase and Henry Daigle defeated Tom Hereford and Romani Thomas 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles for the undefeated Clippers (11-0).
Roman Pavluchenko defeated Brady Keyser 7-5, 6-3 at first singles for the Sharks (7-6).
Falmouth Academy 4, Sturgis West 1: The Mariners (8-1) have won three straight matches. Luke Okoshi defeated George Foster 6-1, 6-2 at second singles, while Genie Chang defeated Kieron Murphy 6-1, 6-2 at third singles. Matt Kellog and Nait Gartner defeated Mason Smith and Adam Alharthy 6-2, 6-1 at first doubles, and Ezra Ackerman and Erik Gulmann defeated Baylor Bowen and Michael Chaven 8-1 in a pro set at second doubles.
Ray Zhang collected the only win for the Navigators (5-4) as he defeated Fletcher Parsons 6-1, 6-1.
St. John Paul II 5, Rising Tide 0: The Lions (5-6) swept the season series with Rising Tide.
Girls Tennis
Martha’s Vineyard 5, Sandwich 0: The undefeated Vineyarders (10-0) topped the Blue Knights (2-8), who lost for the fourth time in five games.
Laina Dubin defeated Abby Bininda 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Charlotte Marschand defeated Seinja Kravits 6-2, 6-1 at second singles and Bella Schilling defeated Tenley Rothera 6-0, 6-4 at third singles.
Leah Thomson and Zoe Treitman defeated Lizzie Bar and Cara Tedeschi 6-2, 6-1 at first doubles, while Tessa Schultz and Maple Martone defeated Lily Shinzo and Sadie Clarkin 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.
Rising Tide 5, Dennis-Yarmouth 0: The Dolphins (0-9) have six more opportunities to try and secure a first win of the season.
Baseball
Cape Tech 11, Norfolk Aggie 0 (5 inn.): Tucker Enos pitched four innings, gave up just one hit and one walk, while striking out eight batters in the shutout for the Crusaders (4-6). Will Mullin closed out the fifth inning with three strikeouts. Mullin and Mason Tomlinson each collected two hits, while Jack Mangold and Mike Shea each had one hit apiece.
Dennis-Yarmouth 6, Martha’s Vineyard 2: The Dolphins (11-4) have won three straight games going into their grudge match with Falmouth on May 8.
The Vineyarders (6-8) were unable to win back-to-back games for the second time this season.
St. John Paul II 12, Sturgis 0 (5 inn.): Brian Mancinelli went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored for the Lions (11-1) against the Navigators (3-5).
Old Colony 2, Upper Cape 1: The Rams (7-3) had their four game win streak end. Devyn Shultze pitched six strong innings, allowing two runs and five hits, while striking out six and walking just two. He also had two hits and a walk. Mitchell Kirkland and Patrick Acord each had two hits. Brady Sprague had one hit.
Softball
Rising Tide 29, Martha’s Vineyard 1: The Vineyarders (2-10) have dropped back-to-back games since winning two in a row.
Falmouth 9, Nantucket 5: The Clippers (3-9) halted a four-game losing streak, while the Whalers (3-5) saw their win streak end at back-to-back games.
Sophie Cassille collected two hits, including a triple, scored twice and had two RBIs. Ellie Bennett had two hits, including a double, scored four times and had two RBIs. Mckayla Codd recorded three hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Tenley Briggs had three RBIs and two hits.
West Bridgewater 20, Bourne 1: The Canalmen (0-13) have six games left to find that elusive win.
Monomoy 14, Dennis-Yarmouth 0 (5 inn.): The Sharks (10-2) have won their last five games by the fifth inning, while the Dolphins (2-8) are winless in their last eight outings.
Willa Leighton drove in eight runs, despite going just 1-for-4 at the plate. She had two other hits marked as errors, which drove in a pair of runs. Kiley Mawn went 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs and an RBI. Lexi Totten was 0-for-1 but drew three walks, scored three times and had an RBI.
Kinsey Lister struck out 11 batters, giving up just one hit, no walks and zero runs over five innings in the win.
Sandwich 4, Nauset 0: The Blue Knights (12-2) ended the Warriors’ (8-3) four game win streak behind Mia Consalvi and Sophie Farrington. Consalvi collected the only two hits and scored two runs. Farrington struck out 12 batters for her 12th win. Jenna Fay, Maddie Brown and Capri Barber all played good defense.
