The Los Angeles Dodgers came into the 2026 MLB season as the clear top World Series contenders, well ahead of every other team in the league as two-time reigning champions that also landed Kyle Tucker and Edwin Diaz in free agency.
They have a strong record this season at 23-14; however, they have gone through a bit of a slog lately, going 5-5 in their last 10 games against the St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, and Miami Marlins.
CBS Sports Matt Snyder posed the question of whether the Dodgers “aren’t as good as everyone thought,” which might be a question worth asking amid some mediocre play recently.
“Then they started 15-4 (a 128-win pace), and it was only confirmation that this is not fair and the Dodgers are too good,” Snyder writes. “Well, the Dodgers have ‘only’ gone 8-10 since that start.”
While that 8-10 record and their .500 record against mediocre teams isn’t ideal, and could be cause for concern, Dodgers fans should not worry one bit about this recent faltering, as their favorite team is still the top World Series contender by a wide margin.
Dodgers fans shouldn’t worry one bit about World Series odds
Snyder put it well: “As long as the Dodgers make the playoffs, they are the biggest threat to win the World Series until proven otherwise.”
Dodgers fans might be in a bit of a panic seeing their super team struggle lately, but there should be no reason to worry about their actual World Series odds.

They might not break the single-season wins record this year, but barring the biggest surprise of recent MLB history, the Dodgers will make the postseason, and very likely will be the overwhelming favorites to win the World Series as well.
Shohei Ohtani is still great, Mookie Betts will return soon, they will get Edwin Diaz, Tyler Glasnow, and Blake Snell back at some point, and there should be no reason for fans to worry about the team right now.
They haven’t been great lately, going 8-10 in their last 18 games. But there’s still no reason fans should be worried about this team. This is a minor speed bump in what is likely to be another deep postseason run.
