There was a fire, but it’s not exactly what it looks like.

Is MetLife Stadium on fire?
No, the NFL stadium isn’t actually on fire.

NJ.com’s Victoria Gladstone got to the bottom of things:
“A large fire is blowing thick clouds of black smoke over a small town in Bergen County. Police said the fire in Carlstadt is ‘under control’ but actively being fought.”
Gladstone writes that it’s a building fire located less than three miles from MetLife Stadium.
So that explains the photograph — taken from the side angle, the smoke can look like it’s actually coming from the football stadium itself, but in reality, it’s just a few miles beyond.
