Four years have passed since Dominic Smith played his last game with the New York Mets.
Since 2022, the outfielder/first baseman has played for five different organizations, including the Atlanta Braves this season.
Smith is killing it at the plate for the Braves, despite struggles in recent years. In 82 trips to the plate, the 30-year-old is slashing .324/.358/.527 with four home runs and a .885 OPS.
Amazingly, Smith’s 18 RBIs are more than any current Mets hitter, including Bo Bichette and Mark Vientos, who each lead the struggling NL East club with 16.
Dom Smith has more RBIs than anyone on the Mets currently. That is insane.

Most of Smith’s at-bats are against right-handed pitching, and he managed four RBIs on one swing (walk-off grand slam) on March 28, less than two weeks after his mother passed away.

There’s a good chance the left-handed hitter might not even last the season with Atlanta.
There’s an even better chance that Bichette, Juan Soto, and Francisco Lindor all finish with more RBIs than Smith. For now, it’s just a fun statistic to monitor.
