In Andy Katz’s first 76-team bracket prediction, the Wisconsin Badgers have fallen to a double-digit seed.
The expanded bracket doesn’t directly impact Wisconsin falling from No. 5 to No. 10, rather the fact they’re without Nick Boyd and John Blackwell and will once again have to prove the doubters wrong.
Greg Gard always has a few tricks up his sleeve, and he’ll need to do so again in the 2026-27 season, especially since the Badgers once again suffered an early tournament exit.
When the NCAA announced the tournament would be expanding to 76 teams, that created more play-in games. Looking back on the 2026 bracket, Wisconsin would’ve avoided High Point with this larger format.

In Katz’s way-too-early 2027 bracket, Wisconsin is the No. 10 seed in the West region. They’d be taking on No. 7 Missouri in the first round, and a win would set up a massive showdown with No. 2 Arizona in the second round.
Keep in mind, the No. 1 seed in this region is Illinois. To no surprise, Big Ten teams are all over Katz’s bracket, with Michigan also being a No. 1 seed. Also, it’s worth noting Blackwell’s Blue Devils are also a No. 1 seed.
