Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has backed Jeremy Doku to become one of the best wingers in the world.
The Belgian has had a fantastic season, scoring eight goals and registering 14 assists in all competitions.
He scored in City’s 3-0 win over Brentford, and asked if Doku can be one of the best wingers in the world, Guardiola said: “It depends on if you mentally say ‘I want to become one of the best wingers in the world.’ Otherwise, you’re in a comfort zone and you say ‘No, it’s fine, it’s fine.’ Jeremy has always had dribbles and works hard and whatever, he has always tried. But you have to say ‘No, I want to become one of the best of the best.’”
Then asked if he can get to the level of Vinicius Junior and Lamine Yamal, the Spaniard said: “Yeah, for sure. And he always accepts being pushed, he always accepts that. And that is so nice, you know. Yeah, we are really pleased. But not only now, since I arrived. Now he is winning games, scoring goals. But he has always been really, really good. Solid.”

City have another Premier League game against Crystal Palace in midweek before they can turn their attention to the FA Cup final against Chelsea next weekend, and asked how he keeps the players focused on the game in front of them, Guardiola said: “We don’t think about the generosity from the Premier League, as always.
“It has been really nice with this schedule. But it is what it is. It is what it is. I always have said, if you don’t play the final in the FA Cup, you don’t have this schedule. Yeah? So we are in the final, and you have this schedule.
“And I would love to have this schedule with the semi-final of the Champions League, in the middle of the title race. We were there. We won the treble, we were there in that dynamic.”
