Victor Wembanyama earned his first-ever NBA ejection during Sunday night’s Game 4 after his elbow to the throat of Naz Reid earned the San Antonio Spurs‘ star a flagrant 2 in the middle of the second quarter.
Given the ejection is Wembanyama’s first, he seemingly wasn’t sure of the protocol when the officials’ ruling came down in Minnesota. At least according to lip readers online, anyway.
After Wembanyama’s ejection was announced in the arena, cameras caught his six-word reaction after taking down the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ center. In the viral clip, Wembanyama looks to ask one of his teammates “what does that mean? I’m ejected?” while pointing to himself. The moment was even caught by NBC’s Mike Tirico on air, who also lip-read Wembanyama in the seconds after the ejection came down.
Wemby didn’t know the Flagrant 2 meant he would be ejected:

While Wembanyama is finished for Game 4, we’ll have to see if he earned himself a suspension thanks to that brutal elbow.
