Karl-Anthony Towns is hooping.
That’s not the only reason the New York Knicks are on an absurdly dominant run through the first two rounds of the NBA playoffs, but it’s certainly a big part of it.
The Knicks have finally figured out the best way to use Towns on the floor, and KAT is leading the way toward the promised land.
The current exclamation point came Sunday when the Knicks completed their sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers with a 144-114 rout.
Towns continued to be a key fulcrum of the Knicks’ offense, showing off a big change to his game.
With New York running more looks through Towns, he’s dealing.
He averaged 1.3 assists per game in the playoffs in 2025.
This time around, it’s 6.6 assists per game in the postseason.
KAT averaged 1.3 APG in the playoffs last year.
He’s averaging 6.6 APG in the playoffs this year.
He’s quintupled his assists while playing six fewer MPG.

The big fella has always had tons of skill, but not a lot of the groups he’s played with have relied upon him to be a passer.
Towns is showing that he has that capability, and at his size and length, he can make almost any feed he wants.
That’s obviously been huge for the Knicks during this awesome run, and if KAT keeps it up, it’ll be tough for anyone to slow this team down.
