The Atlanta Dream made the league-shifting decision to trade with the Chicago Sky to acquire superstar forward Angel Reese.

“I think it was just best for me to move on, and I think it was helpful for both of us,” Reese said after the trade. “I’m grateful for Chicago for putting me in a situation where I could come somewhere that I really wanted and people that really wanted me. So, I’m just grateful to turn the page. No love lost. And I’m just really grateful and happy to be here.

“I think it’s a part of my journey. Just being able to have, [at] this point for me, and being able to grow from it. And I’m just really happy to have this opportunity where Atlanta really wanted me to come in and find ways to help them, and them to help me. I’ve been happy every day. I’ve shown all 32 teeth every single day

Reese made her debut with the Dream in a 91-90 win over the Minnesota Lynx. In terms of her personal production, Reese pulled out a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn’t her most consistent performance. Reese vowed to be better in her second game of the season, a Tuesday night contest against the Dallas Wings, and she delivered in a major way.

In a win over the Dallas Wings, Reese was a force on both ends of the floor. On offense, she scored an efficient 12 points, going 4-for-8 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Reese also made her presence felt on defense with a block and a steal. However, what was most impressive was her glasswork.

She finished the game with 8 offensive rebounds and added 8 more defensive boards. It was a masterclass performance in all facets of the game from Reese with her new team, and if she continues to perform at this level, she’ll be in MVP conversations at the end of the campaign.
