Oklahoma picking up momentum for 4-star CB in 2027 recruiting class

The Oklahoma Sooners new assistant coaches have been impactful on the recruiting trail in their first few months in Norman. Jason Witten helped OU land five-star tight end Seneca Driver, and it looks like cornerbacks coach Lamar Morgan has moved the needle in another blue-chip recruitment. According to Chad Simmons of Rivals, the Sooners have put themselves in a favorable position for 2027 four-star cornerback Bryce Williams.

Morgan’s relationship with Williams dates back to his tenure with the Michigan Wolverines, and has helped Oklahoma land an official visit from the Fort Lauderdale prospect.

“The Sooners have been aggressive this spring, getting down to see Williams multiple times and ramping up communication,” Simmons said. “That consistent push has landed, and sources say Oklahoma has quickly worked its way into a neck-and-neck battle with Nebraska at the top.”

Williams is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound corner. He holds offers from 36 Power Four programs, according to 247Sports. Oklahoma’s biggest competition for Williams is Clemson and Nebraska, but Simmons points out that OU has put itself in a strong position since making an offer a week ago.

Williams is an aggressive cornerback with a knack for playing the ball in the air. His highlights reveal a player with great speed and instincts for the position. He does a great job keeping his eyes back to the ball while in coverage, which allows him to play the ball and disrupt the catch point. Williams is a physical player in coverage and run support. He’s a player who would fit in quite well with Brent Venables defense.
