We are entering the sixth season for the Raiders in Las Vegas. The team that once called Oakland home, played its last game in the Bay Area in 2019. And haven’t been back since. That is about to change.
The Raiders have the 49ers on the schedule this season as one of their away games. The only question was whether that game was to be played in the 49ers South Bay home in Santa Clara or if the NFL would send the game to Mexico City.
Wednesday morning, the NFL announced their full international game schedule. This included the revelation that the 49ers opponent in Mexico City will be the Minnesota Vikings. That announcement made it official — the Raiders will be headed back to the Bay Area for the first time since they left following the 2019 season.
Since then there hasn’t been so much as a preseason game in the Bay Area. There was some talk/hope last year that their training camp would move back to Napa, but it hasn’t work out. At least not yet.
The Raiders will release their schedule Thursday at 4:30 pm Pacific time. At which point we will know exactly when that game against the 49ers will be.
