Angel Reese previously said she would gladly take on the villain role. During the Atlanta Dream‘s recent matchup against the Dallas Wings, Reese did just that after getting the Texas crowd going by trolling some of their players.

Angel Reese didn’t let the heated atmosphere get her down, though. She pushed through it, posting another double-double on the night after recording 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Angel Reese Is Soaking Up The Boos After Posting Another Double-Double During Win Against The Wings

Reese and the Atlanta Dream took on Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings last night, May 12. They started off slow; however, they came back and won 77-72.

Reese made headlines again not only because of her impressive stat line, but because of her on-court persona.

Early in the game, the former Chicago Sky player finished through contact after grabbing an offensive rebound. After making the shot, Reese flexed to the Wings players and gestured “too small” with her fingers.

The moment seemed to get the Wings audience riled up, as they slammed Reese with loud boos. But in true Reese fashion, she embraced the jeers and actually motioned for the crowd to get louder.

Angel Reese Had A Better Second Game, Shooting 50% From The Field

Reese’s performance in last night’s game showed clear growth from the home opener against the Minnesota Lynx, during which she shot 36% from the field.

Before the Dream’s most recent contest, Reese admitted she struggled on the hardwood on May 9, but also acknowledged the other ways she can help her team win.

“I mean, it was obviously rough, rough for me personally, but just being able to fight on both ends of the floor is something that I always know,” she said. “If the shot is not falling, I can get it back on defense, but I know I’ll have a better night tonight.”

Reese’s disappointing showing during the home opener didn’t get her down, and she emphasized the importance of having teammates who will support her throughout the highs and lows.

“But my team always believes in me. They put a lot of confidence into me. My coaches put a lot of confidence into me and just compelled me to keep going and keep going. And just being able to have a sister that really has your back is really important. I really appreciate it,” she said.

Reese’s experience as part of the Dream differs greatly from her first two years with Chicago, she says. According to a previous report from The Blast, Reese called her experience with the Dream a “sisterhood” and said connecting with her teammates was “like a breath of fresh air.”

Chicago’s general manager, Jeff Pagliocca, opened up about Reese’s trade to the Dream in April 2026, saying it was initiated in the interest of both parties.

“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky. We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond,” he said.

During her second year in the league, Reese made headlines after telling the media that she’d consider going in a “different direction” following the Sky’s disastrous season.

“But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can,” she said.

Shortly after her trade was made public, Reese appeared on Michelle Obama’s “IMO” podcast, during which she admitted she would prefer to pay a fine than speak to the media.

Olympian Megan Rapinoe defended Reese’s comments, saying it was a “great example of her taking her power back.”

Rapinoe pointed to the criticism Reese has faced from certain members of the media, saying, “Angel was set up as a villain before she was even in the WNBA, and now she’s making it clear that she’s gonna protect her peace,” she said. “The media landscape is changing rapidly in women’s sports, and of course, the W, as always, is out front.”
