Phil Mickelson was originally in the PGA Championship field.

After missing the Masters, ‘Lefty’ was set to make his return for this major. Casual golf fans would be intrigued to see how Mickelson would perform at Aronimink Golf Club. 

Instead, though, plans have changed.

Is Phil Mickelson playing in the PGA Championship?

No, Mickelson isn’t playing in the PGA Championship.

He announced in the first week of May that he was withdrawing from the tournament due to a “personal health matter with his family.”

The reason cited when Mickelson withdrew from the Masters was a “personal health matter.”

The 55-year old Mickelson is a six-time major champion. That includes two PGA Championship titles.

He’s currently playing on the LIV Golf tour, although this season, he has played in only one of six possible events.

At this point, it’s not clear when Mickelson might be coming back. All that’s known for sure is that he won’t be on the course at the PGA this weekend.
