The big news of the day was Manuel Neuer’s inevitable extension with Bayern Munich. However, a quiet move has also been made by the club to bolster the team’s depth. Sven Ulreich is reportedly being extended alongside Neuer as per reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

While many were quick to see this as an effective move by the club to extend a key veteran, it is not so simple. There are also as many that believe that developing another young goalkeeper would have been a better move, perhaps Leonard Prescott.

It is easy to look at this both ways, but at a bargain, it is not a bad idea. The club certainly doesn’t want the sort of situation that occurred earlier in the season, when Prescott almost started a Champions League match for Bayern while a string of key goalkeepers were injured.

How do you all feel about this move? A harmless extension by the club or a sign of lack of youth investment? Let us know in the comments!
