Rutgers football has landed its first wide receiver commit of the 2027 recruitment class as Jamar Taylor from Salesianum High School in Delaware has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights. His commitment is Rutgers’ fifth offensive commitment so far this class.
During his junior year of high school, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound receiver totaled 48 catches for 703 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns while earning first-team all-conference honors. His efforts helped his team reach the Delaware class 3A championship game.
Before transferring to Salesianum for his junior year, Taylor spent his sophomore year at Town Hill, where he played on both sides of the ball. He recorded 53 catches for 742 yards and 9 TD in 9 games while adding 45 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles on defense, according to his profile on 247sports.
Taylor is a multi-sport athlete for his high school because, in addition to playing football, he also runs track. He set his school’s record in the high jump this past winter by recording a 6-foot, 7-inch jump while also becoming the Delaware state champion in the same event, per 247sports.
A lot of power conference schools were looking to win Taylor over, as he held offers from Boston College, Duke, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and a few others before committing. He is listed as a top 80 wide receiver in the 2027 class according to On3/Rivals.
He is still scheduled to take an official visit to Rutgers on May 29th.
