Five-star cornerback recruit Donte Wright had a change of heart and decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Miami Hurricanes on May 9. Following Wright’s decommitment, he made it clear that he is planning on sticking with his commitment to Miami.
“Recruitment shut down!” Wright said via social media shortly after committing to Miami. “I’m all with Canes Football time to load up… No. 1 class loading up.”
We wouldn’t say any recruitment is completely over until the early signing period in December, but Wright appears to be confidently rolling with Miami. Wright is Miami’s top ranked commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle. Wright is the No. 10 recruit in the country and the nation’s second-best cornerback, per 247Sports.
Miami and coach Mario Cristobal have 11 commitments in the class of 2027. Miami has the nation’s No. 11 recruiting class and an excellent future foundation with Wright and five-star quarterback Israel Abrams.
Wright’s decommitment left Georgia with a void at defensive back. The Bulldogs lost commitments from cornerback Jerry Outhouse and Wright over the past month.
