There are NFL schedule release videos. And then there is Trevor Lawrence apparently detonating one of the most recognizable hairstyles in professional sports.
The Jacksonville Jaguars completely hijacked Thursday night’s NFL schedule release chaos by dropping a video that appeared to show Lawrence chopping off his famous flowing blonde hair, the same hair that has basically become part of his football identity since high school.
Seriously, for a few seconds, it looked like the NFL version of a celebrity breakup announcement.
“Man, I’ve been wanting this cut for a long time,” Lawrence said while sitting in a barber chair as long blonde hair appeared to fall dramatically onto the floor.
Naturally, NFL fans immediately lost their minds.

The internet response was instant confusion mixed with genuine emotional damage. Some fans refused to believe it was real. Others reacted like Jacksonville’s franchise quarterback had somehow violated an unwritten football rule. A few probably needed a moment to process what they had just watched.
And honestly, the reaction makes sense. Lawrence’s hair is not just part of his appearance anymore. It is basically part of the Jaguars brand.
The long blonde hair flying out of the back of his helmet became iconic during his time with the Clemson Tigers football and stayed with him through becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
At this point, plenty of NFL fans probably assumed the hair was protected by league rules.
Trevor Lawrence’s wife added fuel to the chaos before the reveal
The funniest part is that fans probably should have seen this coming. Earlier Thursday, Marissa Lawrence posted what appeared to be pieces of Lawrence’s hair scattered across a barber shop floor. Most people assumed it was a joke or another AI-related prank.
That skepticism made sense because an AI-generated image of Lawrence with short hair already went viral earlier this offseason before eventually being debunked. But this time, the Jaguars leaned all the way into the bit and confirmed the transformation themselves.
Suddenly, Lawrence looks less like a surfer quarterback from central casting and more like the star quarterback in a football movie who transfers schools halfway through the plot.

The Jaguars are hoping the new haircut comes with the same old production
As funny as the internet reaction has been, Jacksonville would gladly take another season identical to Lawrence’s 2025 campaign. The Jaguars quarterback threw for 4,007 yards and 29 touchdowns last season while leading Jacksonville to a 13-4 record and a playoff appearance. He also finished fifth in MVP voting while helping re-establish the Jaguars as one of the AFC’s most dangerous teams.
Coach Liam Coen recently praised Lawrence’s consistency and growth despite navigating multiple coaching staffs and offensive systems early in his career. So yes, the haircut became one of the strangest and funniest NFL moments of the offseason.
But Jaguars fans will probably stop caring about the hair pretty quickly if Lawrence keeps playing like an MVP candidate once the season starts.
