Maple Mountain 5, Salem Hills 3
Nathan Pineda and Trey Bess each scored twice as No. 6 Maple Mountain beat No. 14 Salem Hills 5-3 in the 5A state tournament quarterfinals. Maple Mountain jumped out to an early lead with four first-half goals and held off Salem Hills, who got all three goals from Brooks Barker.
The victory sends Maple Mountain to the 5A semifinals next week, where they will face No. 7 Hillcrest at Zions Bank Stadium.
Hillcrest 3, Pleasant Grove 2
Hillcrest’s Jeter Pugh secured a 3-2 victory over No. 2 Pleasant Grove with a direct free kick in overtime, advancing No. 7 Hillcrest to the 5A state tournament semifinals.
Pugh’s second goal of the game followed regulation contributions from teammate Carlos Leon and assist-maker Weston Allen. Pleasant Grove’s efforts included goals by Maximo Olmos and Sam Clark, but fell short as Hillcrest moves on to face Maple Mountain next week at Zions Bank Stadium.

Alta 2, Skyline 1
Beckham Butler’s goal in the 68th minute secured a 2-1 win for No. 1 Alta over No. 8 Skyline in the 5A state tournament quarterfinals.
Alta took an early lead with Madden McCallister’s 23rd-minute goal, but Skyline’s Parker Loosli equalized in the 40th minute just before halftime. With this victory, Alta advances to face No. 5 Bountiful in the 5A semifinals on Monday at Zions Bank Stadium.
Bountiful 2, Granger 0
In the 5A state tournament quarterfinals, Pim DeJonge and Ezra Christiansen each scored in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory for No. 5 Bountiful over No. 4 Granger, earning a spot in the semifinals.
Bountiful’s defensive unit, led by goalkeeper Jovany Lobato, maintained a clean sheet to shut down Granger’s offensive efforts. The Redhawks will advance to face Alta in next week’s semifinals at Zions Bank Stadium.
