NEW YORK — The Mets are reeling once again.
The Mets’ loss in the Subway Series opener came with another major blow as Clay Holmes suffered a fractured fibula in his right leg during the club’s 5-2 loss to the Yankees on Friday night.
The Mets will hope to weather the storm in the second game of the series at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday night at Citi Field.
The Mets were held in check by Cam Schlittler in the opener, with Juan Soto providing the lone damage on a solo home run. Brett Baty tacked on an RBI single in the ninth inning.
For the Mets on Saturday, Huascar Brazoban will open the game.
Carlos Rodon will be making his second start of the season for the Yankees. He gave up three earned runs in 4⅓ innings against the Brewers in his debut.
