The Boston Red Sox have made a decision on Brayan Bello ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Atlanta Braves.
Bello has been used out of the bullpen as of late, as the Red Sox have been using an opener as of late, which has led to success. However, after Boston’s 3-2 win over the Braves on Saturday, interim manager Chad Tracy revealed Bello will start.
“Brayan Bello will start tomorrow, Chad Tracy said. No opener,” Boston Globe’s Tim Healey wrote on X.
Bello is 2-4 with a 6.46 ERA in 8 games this season, including two starts. Yet, in his last two games, he was used out of the bullpen and went 7 innings, allowing one run against Detroit, and 6.1 innings, allowing one run against the Phillies.
Bello was 1-4 with a 9.12 ERA with 15 walks and 17 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings in his first six starts. But, since the move to the bulk reliever out of the bullpen, he has a 1.29 ERA in 13.1 innings, while striking out 12 and walking just two.
The Red Sox will look for the series win over the Braves on Sunday after the team’s 3-2 win on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1:35 p.m. ET.
