Hockey roundup: Griffins face elimination after overtime loss against Wolves

The Grand Rapids Griffins face elimination after a 4-3 overtime loss against the Chicago Wolves on Saturday at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.

Chicago’s Felix Unger Sorum scored two goals, including the game-winning goal on goalie Michal Postava at the 5:14 mark of overtime.

The Wolves lead the best-of-five series 2-0. Game 3 is Tuesday in Chicago.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard had a goal and two assists, Axel Sandin-Pellikka added two assists and Postava stopped 25-of-29 shots.

Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman was at the Grand Rapids game on the 30-year anniversary of his double-overtime goal against the St. Louis Blues in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinal at Joe Louis Arena.

Ex-Spartan Porter Martone assisted on one of Macklin Celebrini’s two goals in Canada’s 6-0 win over Italy at the world championships at BCF Arena in Switzerland.
