The return of “Notorious” is now official, as Conor McGregor will return to the UFC this summer. The former two-division UFC champion will take on Max Holloway at UFC 329.

UFC 329 is set for July 11 from Las Vegas and will mark the first time McGregor has competed on Paramount+ since the two agreed to a broadcast deal. UFC CEO Dana White announced the fight just prior to Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano squaring off on Netflix.

Conor McGregor returns to action this summer

McGregor last fought five years ago when he suffered a second loss to Dustin Poirier. In the defeat, the Irish fighter suffered a gruesome leg injury, which sent him to the sidelines for a number of months to recover.

UFC officials had planned to pair McGregor with Michael Chandler, as the two were coaches on a season of the reality series, The Ultimate Fighter. However, that did not happen, and McGregor remained out of action.

McGregor vs. Max Holloway will be a rematch

McGregor and Holloway previously met in August 2013, which was just the second UFC appearance for McGregor. He scored a three-round decision victory over the former UFC champion in Boston in front of a pro-McGregor crowd.

The win would eventually send McGregor to the sidelines after suffering a torn ACL. Eventually, though, he would go on to win both the UFC featherweight and UFC lightweight championships.

Holloway dropped a five-round decision to Charles Oliveira for the “BMF” title earlier this year.
