5 defending Jennerstown Speedway champs earn Week 2 wins

JENNERSTOWN — It was Armed Forces Night at Jennerstown Speedway, Saturday, May 16. A special pre-race ceremony was held before six-division racing ensued.

Defending track champs found victory lane in 5 of 6 feature races.

Integrity Coatings Charger Division defending champion Ken Burkholder earned his first win of 2026.

Brian Ready led the first eight laps of the 15-lap, 9-car feature. However, a single-car spin brought out the caution with seven to go. On the restart, Burkholder raced past Ready for the top spot, while Carley Awtey took over second.

Awtey, the Week 1 winner, gave Burkholder everything he could handle down the stretch, but ran out of time to make a pass and finished second. Ready grabbed third.

Casey Fleegle, the defending Ron’s Collision Center Street Stock champ, collected his first victory of the season in the 20-lap, 8-car feature.

The Friedens driver led every lap of the race. Richard Meehleib Jr. ran second but fell off the pack and was forced to pit. The battle for second was a dandy between Shawn Beam and Rick Meehleib. Beam held off Meehleib for the runner-up spot.

Former One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock driver Will Hemminger hopped back into a pro stock and cruised to a victory in the 20-lap, 8-car feature. The Stoystown driver pulled double duty, racing in his usual late model later in the evening.

Kyle Burkholder, who won in Week 1, took second away from Josh Dunmyer with three to go. Dunmyer fended off Todd Price for third.

Defending Somerset Trust Fast & Furious 4s and National Champion, Cameron Ruggles earned a commanding win in the 15-lap feature. The Richmond, Virginia driver won eight times a season ago.

Noah Hirko edged Week 1 winner Seth Nedrow for second in the 6-car field.

Barry Awtey, the winningest driver at Jennerstown Speedway, started on the pole and dominated the Martella’s Pharmacies Late Model feature.

The Jenners driver, who won the last five division titles, led throughout the 30-lap, 12-car feature.

Mike Sweeney dueled with Jarred Barclay for second. Barclay held the position for much of the race before Sweeney made a late pass and maintained the spot ahead of the Somerset driver.

John Fama capped the night with a win in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modified feature. The Central City driver, who won the division title last year, took the lead on the first lap and never looked back.

A caution came out with six laps to go for a single-car crash. On the restart, another spin brought out the yellow flag once again. When the race resumed, Fama took control and topped Dale Glessner and Anthony Aiello.

The annual Karz for Kidz Car Show is slated for Friday, May 22. The Great Lakes Truck Series heads to Jennerstown Speedway, Saturday, May 23. Weekly six-division racing will also take place, beginning at 6 p.m.
