Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

Briggs: Former BG coach Scot Loeffler loses NFL job, but finds balance. ‘I needed this’ – Toledo Blade
After the season, Philadelphia fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and an ESPN report detailed friction between Hurts and the organization, including head coach Nick Sirianni. One team source called the three-time Pro Bowler “not always bought in, not the most coachable.” That didn’t match Loeffler’s experience. “I absolutely loved it,” Loeffler said of his time in Philly. “I loved the people, really loved working with Jalen Hurts and the rest of the quarterbacks. We’ve got a great relationship, still to this day, and I wish him nothing but the best. He’s a super coachable, championship-type of guy, and being able to work with him for a year was awesome. He’s a champion in every aspect of the word. He’s hard working, smart, and he’s a great competitor.” How about his continued work with Hurts? Naturally, the photo Hurts posted on April 18 of a training session with Loeffler — long after the Eagles had hired a new QB coach — lit up talk radio in Philadelphia, with many interpreting it as a shot across the bow. “Now, he’s with the new staff, and he’s got to be around them 100 percent of the time,” Loeffler said. “I was just continuing to work on the fundamentals and techniques that we started. He liked what we did, and I just wanted to brush his toolbox up and clean his toolbox up to be able to go out and start work with the new staff. I wish nothing but great success for the Eagles and Jalen, in particular.”

In Roob’s Observations: The NFL schedule makers did it to the Eagles again – NBCSP
Jalen Hurts Stat of the Week: If the Eagles beat Washington in Week 1, Jalen Hurts will become the first Eagles quarterback to win six season openers. He’s 5-0 in his career on opening day and tied with Donovan McNabb (5-5), Randall Cunningham (5-6) and Ron Jaworski (5-5) for most opening-day wins. Hurts is the only quarterback in NFL history to start at least five openers without a loss. The only other active QB to start at least three games on opening day without a loss is Brock Purdy, who’s 3-0.

Eagles Film Review: Keyshawn James-Newby’s odds are long but they are not zero – BGN
Last year, the Eagles took Antwaun Powell-Ryland Jr., and I was somewhat optimistic he would make the roster given his pass-rushing numbers, but it did not work out. The odds on any individual late-round pass rusher developing into a meaningful contributor are long, but I have to confess I quite enjoyed Keyshawn James-Newby’s film in parts. I have a type at edge. Just give me a ton of explosive sub rushers. It’s what I want! He was another Combine snub, and I think both him and Wisniewski went later than they should have as a direct result of missing that platform. He is an undersized sub-package rusher only. The Eagles seem to have a type for these explosive, undersized, quick-twitch pass rushers, and James-Newby fits the type.

NFL season predictions for every team after 2026 schedule released – SB Nation
4) Philadelphia Eagles: 8-9. The talent is absolutely there for the Eagles, but this isn’t about talent. It’s about all the noise that has followed them over the last year and it finally catching up to them on the field. The A.J. Brown saga likely ending in a trade, Jalen Hurts taking a legitimate step back, Kevin Patullo being the fall guy and being replaced by a first-time play-caller, and Nick Sirianni being on a proverbial hot seat, it will all boil over in 2026 and lead to a down year for the Eagles.

Eagles player review: iOL Drew Kendall edition – PhillyVoice
During locker room cleanout day, Kendall said that he cross-trained at guard throughout the season, in addition to his primary position at center. Kendall will have a chance to be the first guy off the bench at center and maybe guard this season. The Eagles otherwise lack proven depth on the interior of their offensive line. The first guy off the bench a year ago was Brett Toth, who was a key backup: He started four games. He played at least 30 snaps in six games. He played at least 10 snaps in 10 games. In total, Toth played 199 snaps at LG, and 164 snaps at C. With Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens fighting through injury-plagued seasons in 2025, Kendall might become an under-the-radar player of importance in 2026. Based upon what I watched — with the disclaimer that it was a small sample size — I like what I saw from him and think he’s ready to be the primary backup, at least at center, but probably also guard.

Eagles Notebook – Iggles Blitz
Speaking of OL, some of you mentioned Myles Hinton and Cam Williams after yesterday’s piece. Hinton is a complete mystery. He never got on the field last year. He spent the bulk of the season on IR, which meant he couldn’t practice. We know Jeff Stoutland felt strongly about him, but Stout also loved Matt Pryor. Hinton has NFL potential so it will be interesting to see how he does this summer. Williams also spent most of the season on IR. He did get to play in the regular season finale. While he showed some promise, he also showed key issues. He was effective as a pass blocker based on length and size rather than skill and athleticism. That’s not a winning formula unless you have special size/length like Markel Bell. Hinton and Williams were both sixth round picks. They face an uphill battle to make the roster, let alone be key role players.

2026 NFL schedule release: How do travel, rest, prime time and outdoor games impact teams? – NFL.com
Which active coach has the best record after a bye week? Two active head coaches are undefeated after a bye week (minimum two games) in their careers: Nick Sirianni (5-0 since taking over as the Eagles head coach in 2021) and Mike Macdonald (2-0 in his two seasons with the Seahawks). Andy Reid has long had the reputation as the bye-week mastermind, but his 22-5 record is second in NFL history, behind his former assistant, John Harbaugh, who is 15-3 coming off a bye week. Reid and the Chiefs have their bye in Week 5 before an AFC West tilt against the Chargers in Week 6. Harbaugh and the Giants have their bye in Week 8 before a division game of their own in Week 9 at the Eagles.

Must-watch game for every NFL team during the 2026 regular season – The Athletic
Philadelphia Eagles: vs. Seahawks, Week 15. The Super Bowl LIX and LX champions collide. This is bound to be a barometer check for both teams. Their matchup feels like a powerhouse against a powerhouse. “Clint Hurtt versus the staff that didn’t retain him” and “Riq Woolen against the team that didn’t re-sign him” aren’t storylines that will captivate a national audience. Neither will a rematch billing: The Eagles haven’t played the Seahawks since Nick Sirianni demoted former DC Sean Desai for Matt Patricia ahead of a Week 15 loss in 2023. The Seahawks own an eight-game win streak over the Eagles dating back to 2011. This is, “If you want to watch great players play against each other, here ya go.” Hopefully, this game lives up to its talent level.

Philadelphia Eagles Star A.J. Brown Marries Kelsey Riley in Laguna Beach – TMZ
Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown officially tied the knot this weekend, and TMZ Sports obtained photos from the luxury California ceremony. Sources tell us the A.J. married with fiancée Kelsey Riley on May 16 at Montage Laguna Beach, with guests arriving in the late afternoon for the 5 PM ceremony overlooking the ocean. […] Sources say the dress code leaned heavily into earthy tones, with guests specifically asked to wear brown for the occasion — one familiar NFL face standing alongside Brown as a groomsman was fellow Eagles champion Darius Slay.

9 quick-hitting questions with Eagles star Cooper DeJean – Golf.com
Before Cooper DeJean joined Smylie Kaufman for a conversation in T-Mobile’s Club Magenta, I got a chance to ask the Eagles cornerback some questions for social media. Thanks so much to my Philadelphia-based colleagues, Alex Gelman and Darren Riehl, for help with the Philadelphia-centric questions.

PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai delights home fans by declaring himself a Philadelphia Eagles fan after stunning round – The Sun
He said: “They (the fans) were incredible from start to finish. Honestly, I think out of all four of the majors the biggest and loudest atmosphere comes at the PGA Championship and you guys definitely lived up to it this week. “Even for me personally, being from England, your support for me was absolutely incredible so I really appreciate that from the very start until the finish.” Asked if he had a favourite NFL team going into the tournament, the Brit responded, “Unfortunately not.” And pressed if he had one after winning in Philadelphia, he continued, “I do. The Eagles.”

Way too early Cowboys 53-man roster prediction (offense) – Blogging The Boys
Similar to tight end and wide receiver, the offensive line in Dallas will look eerily familiar in 2026. The only spot for change is the 10th spot in which free agent addition Matt Hennessy will battle things out with Trevor Keegan. The coaching staff seemed to be high on Keegan after adding him off of waivers last year, but Hennessy’s 24 starts make him an intriguing addition to the offensive line in 2026. Hennessy has played primarily at center in his NFL career after being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. Hennessy’s ability to start games at center with Brock Hoffman now in Pittsburgh, along with his versatility to play left guard if Tyler Smith has to move out to left tackle, gives him the edge over Keegan as of today.

Are Adam Peters’ Washington Commanders better than they were a year ago? – Hogs Haven
You surely read this story’s headline before clicking on it. If you mysteriously ended up here, then glance up for a sec. Are Adams Peters’ Washington Commanders better than they were a year ago? Your knee-jerk reaction is the right one: Well, duh. So is your second thought: Can’t be much worse. It’s hard to love much of what happened during a 5-12 campaign where quarterback Jayden Daniels got hurt early and often and an old and slow defense looked, well, old and slow. Let’s add nuance to the conversation. The Commanders are better. By how much? As in, NFC East title contender, good? A .500 ball club? A few games better, but still battling for relevance?

5 NY Giants who could have bounce back seasons – Big Blue View
WR Malik Nabers. There is, of course, concern regarding when Nabers will return to action following the surgery to repair his injured knee, as well as how effective he’ll be once he retakes the field. That’s the realm of the Giants’ doctors and trainers. My concern, meanwhile, is if Nabers is primed for a bounce-back from the season he was having before his injury. The injury itself complicates matters, and he might not return to full speed until the second half of the year. But even if he isn’t as explosive as he was when healthy, he can play better. Nabers only started four games last year, totaling 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Of those, nine catches, 167 yards, and both touchdowns came against the Cowboys putrid defense. Otherwise, he caught nine passes on 22 targets (40.9%) for 104 yards, and was 1 for 5 (20 percent) on contested catches. However, the stage could be set for him to rebound from that forgettable start, even while he returns from injury.
