Florida inches up D1Baseball rankings after road sweep of LSU Tigers

Florida baseball wrapped up the regular-season schedule with a sweep of the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge last weekend, giving the Gators series wins in their final three series of the campaign and eight victories in the final 10 games.

The late-season surge saw incremental improvements in D1Baseball’s rankings for Florida, including its one-spot promotion this week to No. 18. That puts Kevin O’Sullivan’s squad between the No. 17 Ole Miss Rebels, who took two of three from the Gators in early April at Condron Family Ballpark, and the No. 19 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

After finishing the season with a 37-18 overall record and an 18-12 mark in SEC play, the Orange and Blue earned a No. 5 seed in the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament this week. Florida’s position in the bracket gives it a first-round bye and has the Gators opening up in the second game of the second round, played on Wednesday.

They will face the winner of the Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Kentucky Wildcats matchup in Game 2, which will be played on Tuesday.
