Corentin Moutet receives warning after pulling down shorts in frustration after losing mid-match point

It’s not unusual to see tennis players meltdown during a match. Verbal altercations with umpires, broken rackets and errant tennis balls flying into the stands are the standard course of actions for frustrated players.

But Corentin Moutet decided to take things to a whole other level Monday. During a match with Davidovich Fokina, Moutet pulled his shorts down after losing a point.

It was … a bizarre moment for everyone involved.

So, what exactly is the punishment for a player pulling down their pants in the middle of a match? In this instance, Moutet received a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct for his actions. Given the situation, Moutet may have been lucky his punishment wasn’t more severe.

Any chance of Moutet repeating his antics will have to wait until his next event. Moutet lost to Fokina on Monday 6-4, 6-4. The loss eliminated Moutet from the Hamburg Open.

With the win, Fokina will advance to the Round of 16, where he’ll face No. 3 ranked Alex de Minaur. Here’s hoping both competitors keep their cool — and their shorts — in that match.
