Michael Edwards ready to sign off on €50m mega transfer

Liverpool appear to be extremely keen on a big €50m transfer this summer.

Michael Edwards is expected to put a big focus on strengthening Liverpool’s midfield in the upcoming summer transfer window, especially with a few key players’ futures starting to look uncertain.

One of the main concerns is Curtis Jones.

He’s heading into the final year of his contract, and there hasn’t really been much movement on an extension yet.

That’s naturally led to more talk about a possible exit and Inter Milan’s interest ramping up. Liverpool won’t want to let things drag on too long, especially since he’s homegrown and still an important part of the squad rotation.

His situation alone is pushing the club to think more carefully about their midfield depth and long-term planning.

There are also question marks around Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, even though both are tied down until 2028. Neither is expected to leave any time soon, but Liverpool are aware that top European clubs are always keeping an eye on players of that quality, so they want to stay ahead of any potential issues.

The two situations aren’t exactly the same either.

Szoboszlai is thought to be moving in a positive direction when it comes to talks over his future, with both sides fairly optimistic. Mac Allister’s situation is a bit more uncertain, with discussions reportedly slowing down in recent months.

On top of that, there’s outside interest to deal with. Real Madrid have considered a move for Mac Allister and there will be other top clubs interested in the Argentine’s signature if he becomes available.

There will be question marks over the future of Wataru Endo and whether he can truly be considered as an option considering how little Arne Slot has utilised him.

Meanwhile, Trey Nyoni might be in search of more game time considering he has been very sparsely used as well.

With so many moving parts, this is going to be an imperative summer for the Reds.

But fear not, Liverpool are making moves to bring in more reinforcements and replace those midfielders who could be leaving with exciting new additions.

One of the most exciting options on the market right now is Lamine Camara. Liverpool have long been admirers of the Senegalese midfielder and he seems like the perfect option.

This season, only Mamadou Sangare (8.01 per 90 minutes) has won possession more times than Camara (7.68 per 90 minutes) in Ligue 1 this season.

When you look at the speed that Camara has and the intensity that he plays with on top of the amount of distances he covers, he seems like the perfect option.

And according to Foot Mercato Liverpool are working on a deal to sign him. The site claims the Reds are ‘extremely keen’ on signing Camara.

Newcastle United are also interested but the site claims Liverpool are the ones looking to hijack this move with the Reds’ management presumably Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes being informed of a recent meeting between Camara’s representatives and the Magpies.

The report goes on to say that Monaco currently value Camara at €50m.
