A pair of players were returned to the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.
As noted by Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer this afternoon, running back Montrell Johnson and tight end Bryce Pierre have reverted to the team’s injured reserve after clearing waivers. Both went unclaimed after being waived-injured on Monday.
Johnson split his collegiate career between Louisiana (2021) and Florida (2022 to 2024) before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and a second-team All-Sun Belt member in 2021, rushing for 838 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
After stops with the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals, Johnson signed to the Panthers’ practice squad this past December.
Pierre, who played at Arizona State (2022 to 2023) and UCLA (2024), was a member of Carolina’s practice squad during the 2025 campaign. He did not appear during the regular season.
