Bavarian Loan Works: Which loanees earned promotion, European spots for their teams?

As Bayern Munich finished their league season, almost all of their loanees finish out their season too. Nübel conceded a late penalty and earned a draw. Ibrahimović was not able to help his team find a win for Heidenheim. Fernández helped Nürnberg earn a draw and spoil another loanee’s chance at promotion. See what complications these matches had in races for European spots, relegation, and promotion as well as the rest of the loanees’ matches below.

FC Bayern Munich

There are 11 players from on loan from the first team.

Germany – Bundesliga

There are three players from the first team on loan to the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Arijon Ibrahimović, and Armando Sieb.

Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart

Stuttgart went into the final Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt level on points with Hoffenheim for the last Champions League spot. Nübel started in goal and recorded five saves throughout the match. Stuttgart were cruising by halftime — up 2-0 — but lost the lead in the second half. Though he kept Frankfurt from scoring from the run of play, they scored twice on him from the penalty spot. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.

With the draw, Stuttgart clinched the last Champions League spot. Stuttgart will finish their season in the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin against Bayern on Saturday.

Arijon Ibrahimović – 1. FC Heidenheim

Ibrahimović started for Heidenheim in their final match against Mainz and needed a win to keep their hopes of survival alive. He had three shot attempts — one off target and two blocked — and created a chance for his teammates to shoot. Mainz scored two in the first half and Ibrahimović was subbed off in the 65th minute. Neither team scored in the last stages of the match and they fell at home 2-0.

Heidenheim finished in 17th place and will be relegated to the 2. Bundesliga.

Armindo Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05

Sieb was on the bench for Mainz’ 2-0 away win against Ibrahimović‘s Heidenheim.

Mainz finished in tenth place in the Bundesliga.

England – Premier League

There are two players on loan to the English Premier League: João Palhinha and Jonah Kusi-Asare.

João Palhinha – Tottenham

Spurs have not played since last week. They will face Chelsea away on Tuesday and finish the season at home against Everton. One win or two draws will be enough to keep Tottenham in the Premier League.

Jonah Kusi-Asare – Fulham

Kusi-Asare was not on the matchday squad for Fulham’s 1-1 draw away to Wolves.

Fulham will host Newcastle United for the final match of the season.

England – Championship

Daniel Peretz is the only player on loan to England’s Championship.

Daniel Peretz – Southampton

Peretz is preparing with Southampton for Saturday’s promotion playoffs final against Hull City.

Italy – Serie A

Bryan Zaragoza is the only player on loan to Serie A.

Bryan Zaragoza – AS Roma

Zaragoza was not on the bench for Roma’s 2-0 derby win against Lazio.

The win moves them into fourth place with one match to go. A win Sunday against Helles Verona would guarantee a Champions League berth next season.

Türkiye – Super Lig

Sacha Boey is the only player on loan to the Turkish Super Lig.

Sacha Boey – Galatasaray

Boey started for Galatasaray away to Kasımpaşa for their last match. He completed 95% of his passes but could not get a shot attempt nor create a chance for his teammates to shoot. He was subbed off in the 65th minute with his team down 1-0. Neither team scored and the match ended by that score.

Galatasaray finished Champions of the Super Lig and will play in the Champions League next season.

Switzerland – Super League

Lovro Zvonarek is the only player on loan from the first team to the Swiss Super League.

Lovro Zvonarek – Grasshopper

Zvonarek was not on the matchday squad for Grasshopper’s final regular season match on Saturday — a 3-1 win away to Lausanne.

Grasshopper will face Aarau of the Swiss second division in two legs this week to determine who plays in the top flight next season. They will be away to Aarau on Monday and at home on Thursday.

Germany – 2. Bundesliga

There are two players from the first team on loan to the 2. Bundesliga: Maurice Krattenmacher and Tarek Buchman.

Maurice Krattenmacher – Hertha BSC

Krattenmacher was on the bench but did not appear in Hertha’s 6-1 loss to Arminia Bielefeld.

Hertha finished in seventh place in the 2. Bundesliga.

Tarek Buchman – 1. FC Nürnberg

Buchman was not in the matchday squad for Nürnberg’s 3-3 draw against Hannover 96.

FC Bayern Munich II

There are 15 players on loan from the second team.

Germany – Bundesliga

 Felipe Chávez is the only player on loan from the second team to a Bundesliga team.

Felipe Chávez – 1. FC Köln

Chávez was on the bench for Köln’s 5-1 loss away to Bayern but did not have a chance to play against his parent club.

Köln finished in 14th place this season, successfully staying up in their first season back in the Bundesliga.

Germany – 2. Bundesliga

There are four players on loan from the second team in the 2. Bundesliga: Noël Aséko, Javier Fernández, Grayson Dettoni, and Paul Scholl.

Noël Aséko – Hannover 96

Aséko was not in the matchday squad for Hannover’s 3-3 draw at home.

The draw caused them to fall to fourth place, ending their chances to be promoted.

Javier Fernández – 1. FC Nürnberg

Fernández started and played the full 90 minutes for Nürnberg against Hannover. He had one shot — on goal — and created one chance for his teammates to shoot. That chance turned into an assist for Nürnberg’s first goal. He also helped on defense with three clearances, an interception, and two recoveries. Nürnberg came back to draw 3-3 and spoil Hannover’s chance for the playoff spot.

Nürnberg finished in eighth place in the 2. Bundesliga.

Grayson Dettoni – SV Darmstadt 98

Dettoni was on the bench for Darmstadt’s 2-0 home loss against Paderborn.

Darmstadt finished in fifth place.

Paul Scholl – Karlsruher SC

Scholl started and played the full 90 minutes for Karlsruhe in their final match, at home against Bochum. He had one shot attempt — off target — but did not create a shot attempt for a teammate. On defense, he had two tackles, a blocked shot, two clearances, and six interceptions. Despite his help, Bochum scored two goals and beat KSC 2-1.

KSC finished in tenth place.

Germany – 3. Liga

Max Schmitt is the only player on loan in the 3. Liga.

Max Schmitt – SSV Ulm 1846

Schmitt was not on the matchday squad for Ulm’s 3-2 home loss against RW Essen.

Ulm finished in 19th place and have been relegated to the Regionalliga.

Germany – Regionalliga

There are two players on loan in the Regionalliga Südwest: Benedikt Wimmer and David Emmanuel and three players on loan to the Regionalliga Bayern: Gibson Adu, Richard Meier, and Jason Eckl.

Benedikt Wimmer – SV Sandhausen

Wimmer was on the bench for Sandhausen’s 3-1 home loss against FC Homburg 08 but did not make it onto the pitch.

Sandhausen finished the season in eighth place in the Regionalliga West.

David Emmanuel – Hessen Kassel

Emmanuel was not on the matchday squad for Kassel’s 3-1 away win against Kickers Offenbach.

Kassel finished in sixth place in the Regionalliga West.

Gibson Adu – Unterhaching

Adu was not in the matchday squad for Unterhaching’s 4-0 home win to finish the season.

Richard Meier – Unterhaching

Meier was on the bench for Unterhaching’s 4-0 home win against SV Wacker Burghausen but did not make it onto the pitch.

Jason Eckl – Unterhaching

Eckl was not in the matchday squad for Unterhaching’s 4-0 home win to finish the season.

Unterhaching finished the Regionalliga Bayern in third place.

Switzerland – Super League

Johnathan Asp Jensen is the only player from the second team on loan to the Swiss Super League.

Johnathan Asp Jensen – Grasshopper

Asp was not on the matchday squad for Grasshopper’s final regular season match on Saturday — a 3-1 win away to Lausanne.

Grasshopper will face Aarau of the Swiss second division in two legs this week to determine who plays in the top flight next season. They will be away to Aarau on Monday and at home on Thursday.

Austria – Bundesliga

There are two players on loan to the Austrian Bundesliga: Maximillian Hennig and Jussef Nasarawe.

Maximillian Hennig – TSV Hartberg

Hennig was not in the matchday squad for Hartberg’s final match — a 3-1 away win against RB Salzburg.

Hartberg finished in sixth place of the Championship Group.

Jussef Nasrawe – SV Ried

Nasrawe started for Ried and played the full 90 minutes away to Altach. He had one shot — on goal — and created on chance for a teammate to shoot. He helped on defense with five recoveries. His team went to down to ten men and also gave up two penalties on the day and lost 2-0.

Despite the loss, Ried finished in first place of the Relegation Group. They will host Wolfsberger AC in a one-legged semifinal of the Conference League qualification on Tuesday. Winner will play a two-legged final against Rapid Wien starting Friday.

Italy – Serie D

Magnus Dalpiaz is the only player on loan to Italy’s Serie D.

Magnus Dalpiaz – Milan Futuro

Milan’s U23 season ended last week with the loss in the promotion semifinal. They finished in fourth place in Italy’s fourth division.

FC Bayern Munich Frauen

There is one player on loan from the women’s team.

Brazil – Brasileirão Feminino

Ana Guzmán is the only player on loan to Brazil’s Brasileirão Feminino.

Ana Guzmán – SE Palmeiras

Guzmán started on the bench for Palmeiras away to Santos. She came into a scoreless match at halftime. She had one shot — blocked — and created one chance for his teammates to shoot. On defense, she had an interceptions, a clearance, and five recoveries to help her team keep the shutout through the full match. Unfortunately her team was unable to find a goal and the match ended 0-0.

Palmeiras has a busy week upcoming. They host Botafogo on Monday, travel to face Ferroviária on Thursday, and finish out the week away to Red Bull Bragantino.
