Gvardiol would probably like Bayern move, but it’s likely too expensive (Sport1)
Over the weekend, Lothar Matthäus leisurely broke a bombshell transfer story when he spoke about Bayern Munich being interested in Manchester City defender Joško Gvardiol.
As it turns out, Matthäus might have been onto something and Gvardiol can even envision a move to Bavaria.
So…what’s the catch? Per Sport1, his price:
According to SPORT1 , the Croatian can indeed imagine such a move and is even trying to force a departure from Manchester. Gvardiol is known to be a big fan of FC Bayern and was already on the Munich club’s shortlist during his time at RB Leipzig.
Whether the 24-year-old’s feelings are reciprocated remains to be seen. The record champions are likely to be deterred primarily by a potential transfer fee of around €90 million. This is the sum City once had to pay Leipzig .
Bavaria would have to dig deep into its pockets. With skillful negotiation, the transfer fee could possibly be reduced to 75 million, but it remains questionable whether Bayern Munich wants to afford this expensive proposition.
Bayern Munich does not need much in this transfer market. Should it go “all in” during this transfer window and splurge on two or three signings or spread out its money with more mid-range transfers?
We had initially laid out our Summer Trans Plan 1.0 on Bavarian Podcast Works as Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, Hertha Berlin’s Kennet Eichhorn, and Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky van de Ven, but Gvardiol might have to make us ramp up Version 2.o pretty quickly.
United, Chelsea eyeing Adeyemi (ESPN)
Both Manchester United and Chelsea FC are reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi:
Manchester United and Chelsea are firmly in the mix to sign Karim Adeyemi with Borussia Dortmund willing to let the forward leave this summer, according to TEAMtalk. The 24-year-old has stalled on contract negotiations with Dortmund and his contract deal runs out next summer, so they are open to allowing him to leave for around €60 million to €70 million to avoid losing him on a free transfer. United believe Champions League football makes them a strong candidate to sign Adeyemi, while Chelsea have made contact with his representatives. Liverpool are also monitoring him, and Paris Saint-Germain hold a strong interest.
Ndiaye to have bigger role next season (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye could be in line for a more prominent role at Bayern Munich next season:
✅ It is TRUE: Bayern Munich have a hope that Bara Ndiaye could be another play they count on for the squad next season. This could help in situations as we’ve seen in the semi-final against PSG when the club is already dealing with an injury list. He’s not allowed to play for the second team at Bayern Munich – just the first! So if they’ve signed him, they clearly think he has the potential and quality to play there. You don’t know how far it will go, of course.
This World Squad Bayern Munich are directly connected to is proving quite fruitful. It’s the second player where Bayern have the hope they’ve found a gem. They’ll count on Ndiaye, but that’s a reason for not signing other players in this position.
It is hard to figure out where the minutes for Sapoko Nidaye would come from. Listed as a central midfielder, the youngster trailed off in his appearances at the end of the season. While he did show some promise, he could be the kind of player who would benefit from a loan where he could get a lot of playing time at first-team level.
Kane, Kimmich, Olise, Díaz recognized with Team of the Season honors (WhoScored)
Bayern Munich stars Luis Díaz, Michael Olise, Harry Kane, and Joshua Kimmich were all recognized for their efforts this season:
In addition, the quartet was also recognized by FotMob on its Bundesliga Team of the Season. Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel was also included for his work at VfB Stuttgart:
Nübel’s season was good enough to potentially draw interest for the summer transfer window.
This is cool to see (EuroFoot)
Remember towering VfB Stuttgart striker Saša Kalajdžić? Hs career was derailed by not one, not two, but three torn ACL injuries! Well, after a tumultuous few years, he is back winning trophies with LASK and also earned a sport on the Austrian national team:
What a story of perseverance and will.
Leeds leads on Openda (ESPN)
Leeds United could be poised to secure a deal for former RB Leipzig attacker Lois Openda:
Leeds United are in “pole position” to sign Juventus star Loïs Openda, Football insider has revealed. The 26-year-old, who joined Juve from RB Leipzig last summer, is also wanted by Premier League new boys Coventry City, although Leeds are better placed to get the transfer over the line. Openda has struggled for form this season, scoring just once in Serie A to date.
