Bamba Dieng (26) has confirmed that he will leave FC Lorient upon the expiry of his contract at the Ligue 1 club.
The Senegalese forward has scored 15 goals in 25 games in all competitions. It comes after a middling loan spell at SCO Angers last season. Prior to that, he had struggled following his departure from Olympique de Marseille.
Hoffenheim in talks with Dieng
His revival is timely, with the centre-forward out of contract at the end of the season. Clubs across Europe have shown an interest in signing Dieng. They will be able to snap the former OM man up on a free, since he will not be extending with Les Merlus, as he has now confirmed. “The moment has come for me to turn an important page in my career,” he wrote on Instagram.
It is a blow for Lorient, who will lose their talisman, as well as their manager, Olivier Pantaloni. Dieng is attracting strong interest from Hoffenheim, whilst SC Freiburg and Real Betis are also in the race.
